Installation
System requirements
Section titled “System requirements”- macOS 12 (Monterey) or later
- Apple Silicon or Intel processor
Windows
Section titled “Windows”- Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
- 4 GB RAM minimum
Both platforms require a stable internet connection for transcription and AI features.
Download Dusky
Section titled “Download Dusky”Download the latest version for your platform from getdusky.app.
Install on macOS
Section titled “Install on macOS”- Open the downloaded
.dmgfile. - Drag Dusky into your Applications folder.
- Launch Dusky from Applications or Spotlight.
Install on Windows
Section titled “Install on Windows”- Run the downloaded
.exeinstaller. - Follow the setup wizard — the default settings work for most users.
- Launch Dusky from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
Grant permissions
Section titled “Grant permissions”Dusky needs two macOS permissions to work. You are prompted during onboarding, but you can also grant them manually.
Screen Recording (required)
Section titled “Screen Recording (required)”This permission lets Dusky capture screenshots and register as a screen-share-excluded window so it stays invisible on Zoom, Meet, and Teams.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording.
- Toggle Dusky on.
- Restart Dusky if prompted.
Microphone (optional)
Section titled “Microphone (optional)”Required only for live audio transcription.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
- Toggle Dusky on.
Windows
Section titled “Windows”Windows handles permissions through system prompts. Dusky requests access automatically on first use.
Screen capture (required)
Section titled “Screen capture (required)”No manual configuration needed — Windows grants screen capture access to desktop apps by default.
Microphone (optional)
Section titled “Microphone (optional)”Required only for live audio transcription.
- Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
- Make sure Microphone access is turned on and Dusky is allowed.
Sign in
Section titled “Sign in”Launch Dusky and sign in with your email (magic link) or Google account. A free trial is included so you can test every feature before purchasing.
